Villa Eremo

Villa Eremo is a very special villa in Tuscany. Commanding stunning views this villa is the masterpiece of a local architect who also owns several stylish houses in the village of Metato. It is the perfect backdrop for a family get-together or a place for friends to gather for a special occasion.

This original farmhouse has been converted over several years and now is a wonderful holiday home. Set within woodlands and with terraced gardens the views will never cease to hypnotise you: the mountainside lights up in the morning, the sea beyond sparkles in the evening and then at night the valley below twinkles.

The house has been restored to a high level and careful attention has been taken to maintain the genuine feel whilst at the same time bringing it right up to date. Entry is into a beautiful living room with delightful sofas and open fireplace. To the right is the stunning dining room and to the left the well-equipped kitchen – all these rooms have direct access to the garden. From the living room the open stone stairs lead to the first floor where there are three bedrooms. The first bedroom has a small double bed / two singles and access to the garden. This bedroom has the bathroom across the landing. To the front of the house there are two double bedrooms which have en suite bathrooms. Both these rooms have windows affording the beautiful view. One of these main bedrooms also has access to the garden and cleverly the owner has designed a lockable grating which allows two of the bedrooms to be linked via an external area. This to enable children to move from one bedroom to another safely. The fourth bedroom is accessed via a set of external steps to the left of the house. At the top of these steps there is a lovely patio with possibly the best view. This patio has table and chairs. This double (or twin) bedroom has an en suite bathroom with a view.

Whilst the interiors are splendid this property takes on a whole new dimension when outside. A lovely dining table outside the kitchen and several seating areas dotted around the terraced garden all combine to provide a stunning and harmonious frame to the villa. There is also a hot tub and plunge pool outside the property.

The word eremo translates into hermitage or retreat and this villa is a real step away from the humdrum of everyday life. So much so that there is no road to the villa and guests will be met in the village car park and their bags transported up to the villa. You will also be driven up the hill and the last 150m to the villa are via a path through the woods. This villa is for those people looking for an oasis of beauty and tranquility. There is also a 4x4 panda car at your disposal for getting up and down from the car park.

The village of Metato is only a short stroll down the terraced garden and there is a lovely local trattoria where super Tuscan feasts are served up. Should you want dinner prepared for you at home this can also be arranged easily. There are also three donkeys who wander the woods and are looked after by the owner, they add yet another feature to Eremo and will undoubtedly become Instagram hits! Beyond Metato there are many fabulous places to visit – Pisa, Lucca, Pietrasanta, the beaches are all nearby and further afield Florence, Cinque Terre and the stunning marble caves of Carrara all make for super day trips.

A local lady can be booked to prepare you delightful meals to dine in at the villa or join others a short walk down the hill at the communal area where there is another BBQ for your use and where at times the owners prepares meals., a real treat. There is also a lovely trattoria in the village
