Three Curiosities about Sardinia

Sardinia was once called Ichnusa

The name Inchusa comes from the Greek word “ichnos”, which means “footprint” or “sign”. According to tradition, the name is linked to the shape of the island, which resembles a footprint when seen from above.

Interestingly, “Ichnusa” is still used today as an alternative name for Sardinia,  especially in the context of the island’s culture and tradition. For example the most famous Sardinian beer is called “Ichnusa” in honour of the ancient name of the island.
