Aperitivo Time

Today we are going to talk about one of the most beloved traditions in Italy – Happy Hour, or as the Italians call it, ‘aperitivo’!
Italy, known for its rich culture, history, and of course its delicious cuisine, has also perfected the art of enjoying a pre-dinner drink with friends, family, or colleagues. Happy hour in Italy is not just about enjoying a few drinks, it’s a social event that brings people together to unwind, relax and indulge in the pleasures of Italian food and drinks.
One of the best things about happy hour in Italy is the variety of aperitivos available! Unlike traditional happy hours in other parts of the world, where the focus is mainly on discounted drinks, in Italy, its a culinary experience. When you step into a bar or a restaurant during aperitivo time, you are greeted with a range of mouth-watering appetizers, or ‘stuzzichini’, beautifully displayed on the counter or served at your table!
If you’re a more cocktail enthusiast, Negroni is another Italian favourite. This iconic drink, made with equal parts gin, Campari and sweet vermouth, is a delightful balance of bitter and sweet. Served over ice with a twist of orange zest, it’s another perfect companion to your appetizers.
The ambience during happy hour is also something to be cherished, whether you are in a bustling city like Rome or a cozy town in Tuscany, the lively chatter, laughter and clinking of glasses are the most delightful moments you can enjoy during your holidays in Italy!
Buon Aperitivo!
